The Summers Family Digest
From the book:
Summers Past
  Introduction:
How I Got Interested In Our Summers
Family History
Volume 1
Issue 1
It all started about twenty years
ago. I was going through some
papers and notebooks handed
down from my grandfather, Joseph
Cottrell Summers to my mother
Lucy Marie Summers-Teichman,
and finally to myself.
I was looking at a faded tattered
notebook that contained
handwritten sermons by my great
grandfather, Rev. Harry Given
Summers. I started reading from
the front cover and suddenly
realized that the first several pages
of the notebook were his
autobiography of his early years.
It then fades into a sermon. The rest of
the notebook is filled with sermons.
Since our Rev. Summers retired 16
years before his death in 1943, it was
probably   written before 1937. This
makes it 80 years old or older.
That discovery twenty some years ago,
inspired me to search deeper into our
Summers’s family past and to try learn
more about them. It was then and there
that I decided to become a
family
history detective
.
It seems appropriate to include in this
first issue, to include my first family
history discovery of Rev. Harry Givens
Summers autobiography of his early
years.
In this Issue :
Harry Givens Summers
autobiography of his
early years,
I have transcribed  to
